The Pharmaceutical Management Science Association (PMSA) 2019 Annual Conference is a “fraternity of like-minded people,” according to Jassi Chadha of Axtria. Lauren Tian of Novartis says going to the PMSA conference is like a “family reunion” where she partakes in a “happy discussion about our work and our future.”
The PMSA conference held this year from April 14-17 in San Diego is a 40-year tradition where pharmaceutical manufacturers connect with their vendor/consultant partners in the field of analytics. As PMSA says in their video they bring together thought leaders, cutting edge research, networking with peers and industry updates all in an environment conducive to sharing ideas.
This year’s theme of “Designing the Future of Analytics in BioPharma” will showcase some of the latest analytical applications. Emily Zhao and Pankaj Gupta of IQVIA will present an AI Powered Solution for Analyzing Brand Performance and Jean Tsang from Bayser and John McIntosh from Actelion will Predict Therapy Discontinuation using Bayesian Reasoning to name just two highlights. Of course, machine learning is not forgotten. Over one-third of all presentations have machine learning in their title. If you have time, one of the two four hour tutorials on Sunday, 4/14, is Applications for Data Science in the Pharmaceutical Industry. Data Science expertise is one of the top requests by pharma companies in their analytical hiring.
Running throughout the conference is a vendor fair, and on Monday and Tuesday during lunch there will be poster sessions with poster judging and a wine reception on Monday afternoon. There are 13 posters, three with machine learning in their title, but also posters on clinical trial design, data lakes and brand marketing analytics.
